Conversion of Three Coal Fired Boilers To Natural Gas
Three coal fired boilers located at the Indianapolis Plant were converted to fire natural gas. Burner packages that were installed on retired boilers at the Melrose Park Plant were removed and reinstalled on the Indianapolis Boilers. Bryerton developed the complete design from the removal of the burners to the reinstallation at the Indianapolis plant.
The project included:
- The removal and reinstallation of three (3) burner packages including combustion controls and flame safety systems
- The redesign of the Indianapolis coal fired boiler fronts to accept the package burner systems.
- The redesign of the boiler floors to allow for the removal of the original coal stoker systems.
- Review and modifications to the existing Forced Draft and Induced Draft fans to operated under the new requirements of the natural gas package burners.
- Additions and modifications to the control systems.
Our work included the development of all drawings and specifications for the complete installation including foundations, structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical design and details.
